Il changeait la vie :- He changed life

There was a cobbler, a simple cobbler,
In a village whose name escapes me,
Who made shoes so nice, so light,
That our lives seemed a little less heavy to bear.

He took his time, with talent and heart,
And spent his life this way in the middle of ours,
Far from meaningless speeches, and grand plans.
Sticking to his task each day, one could say of him,
He changed life.

There was a teacher, a simple teacher,
Who thought that knowledge was a great treasure,
And all the 'good-for-nothing's had only school,
And their right to education to make something of their lives.

He took his time, with talent and heart,
And spent his life this way in the middle of ours,
Far from meaningless speeches, and grand plans.
Sticking to his task each day, one could say of him,
He changed life.

He was a little man, nothing but a little man
Awkward and dreamy, in brief, missed a little in life
He thought he was useless, exiled from the other men
He was crying on his saxophone

He spent so much time, tears and pain
The dreams of his life, prisons of his heart
And far from meaningless speeches, and grand plans
Inspired day after day from his breath and his cries
He changed life
